How I can create a Web / File / Print Server?
Here is the hardware: – Core2Duo PC with 2 SATA RAID HD – Wireless N Router + Access Point – USB printer and operating system software: – Linux Xubuntu not want the server has an Internet connection. It will be a house Intranet server. There will be 2 or 3 pieces of connection through the wireless router. I need the storage of files and host a php based software with the support of a classic AMP configuration. A USB printer is connected to the server and be shared by the three computers. My biggest concern is over the print server because I've searched the web and just found tutorials from a router or switch with a built in print server and most of them based on the Windows platform. Any ideas?
In linux CUPS is used for printer sharing. CUPS Common Unix Printing System and is easy to install. One of the best turtorials is https: / / help.ubuntu.com / Community / NetworkPrintingWithUbuntu and https: / / help.ubuntu.com / community / #% distribution SettingUpSamba 20Printers% 20CUPS If the installation of Samba work (file sharing) CUPS system should work fine.
