Help got a virgin media broadband but cant get my d-link dir-635 wireless router to work is it settings?
tried lots of different things changing settings putting in ip adress subnet mask and default gateways but still really stuck any ideas or is the dir-635 not compatible with virgin broadband????? was telewest. doing my head in and im no computer genius at all just want a wireless network surely aint that hard?
HI there,
To get this working it should be really simple.
Firstly, reset the Dlink router to factory default settings (it should be described in the manual, normally involves holding the reset button in for 10 seconds or so)
Make sure your cable modem is connected to the WAN/Internet port on the router, also – power your cable modem off and back on.
Next, using your wireless computer, view available networks, you should see your dlink wirleless point in the list.. double click to connect to it (if you have been playing with ip addresses and subnet masks for the wirless network connection, make sure sure these have been set back to obain automatically/DHCP)
once the network shows as connected, try to access the internet – it should work but you still need to add some security otherwise anyone can use it!
