wireless router wont connect to the internet

my new custom Belkin Wireless router let me connect to the Internet or using Xbox Live?

I bought a belkin g wireless router for use with my xbox live children. will not let me go on the internet at all when connected. I have to unplug the router to get back online. How I can use the router for my xbox live children (to work in reality) and connect to the Internet at the same time? thanks for any help.
