Wireless N or G router?
I'm buying a new router my current wireless router has crapped out last time, just reset do so, call for service technician, etc. .. and is cheap enough to replace. Anyway I am willing to spend up to $ 200 for a good router, but if I do not need to save money .. is always fresh. At the time that using wi-fi devices 7 (including a printer), and they are all 802.11 b / g. I'm debating to add an 802.11 n / b / g card my desktop pc (so it is 8 devices in total). I live in an apartment complex, my apartment is 800 square feet. I do not see myself going in the short term. I can use the Internet router and especially the print, sometimes I use the PS3 to play and share media with the PC. Anyway .. just wanted to see what people recommended. In when G wireless routers seem to be the cheapest and pattern. But Wireless N seems to have more staying power, backward compatible, and not much more expensive (except gambling). So what should I choose? Thx.
Well, remember G is a standard (accepted by any modern computer / Peripheral). N is a project. Meaning its not fully accepted and used by all things wireless, yet. In theory is more powerful and faster to G, but will run the risk of incompatibility of different manufacturer once N is officially set for launch (estimated June 2009). If I were you, I would like to continue to work perfectly $ 50 G for now, and once that N is a "real thing", you will still have $ 150 to make one are super decent. Hope this helps:)
